I returned her wallet with her bus pass, bank card, and wrinkled $12. I received no tip and barely even a thank you. I did, however, receive a nice email from Lyft asking if $50 had fallen out or if I had seen it. The passenger reported $50 missing.

I responded back telling them if I wanted to keep her $12, I would have said I never found the wallet. I also asked them to please not fall for her story and reward her with credit/refund.

Keep the privacy for the pax. Can't say too much detail , but nothing illegal.
The intrigue builds....

That new Sherlock Holmes series has nothing on this.

I threw my last pax wallet out the window but I felt bad. I don't like this. You loose either way. Majority of my pax don't tip on returning items. I'm throwing crap out my window. Not returning Uber's emails. I hate my species. Just trying to be honest.
It's also risky returning items direct to pax. If pax lie to Uber and claim that we were drunk, or picked someone else up and they didn't take their ride, or drove dangerously etc etc just so they can try to save a few bucks off their fare, there's nothing to stop them putting a false claim to Uber that the driver returned their phone with a smashed screen to try to scam some money.
