Hey you all— it’s been a minute. I stopped driving once the pandemic hit, prior to that I was a full time driver (located in the city) during the previous 5 years. After the pandemic hit I ended up getting a FT job in my field but it was contract work and the contract has now ended. Looking at getting back on the road to hold me over as I seek other employment options. It looks like there’s quite a few og’s still in here. Just wanted to get a feel for what it’s like out there right now and how much some of you are bringing in on a weekly basis. Income vs drive time etc.

I make thre same I I did before Covid. But I drive less. It’s a different game now as traffic patterns are different without the consultants traveling as much and people working hybrid schedules. I wouldn’t even try to predict anything going forward as summer is basically done. However you will need to take full advantage of the promos and in all likelihood both Uber and Lyft may throw you a decent guarantee for the first 30 days

My take is if U/L don't throw you CT or any bonuses don't drive.
Pretty much. When you start back sometimes they don’t offer anything for a few weeks so it’s a bit of a catch 22. The first thing you have to do is get approved to drive again if you haven’t don’t it for a long time. Some folk get hung up on the background checks while others don’t. Then there is stupid shit, like Lyft deciding that my registration expired yesterday instead of the end of the month. I had to go this morning and have been waiting 4 hours for it to be approved while the Uber one was good through tomorrow and when I downloaded the new one was approved in less than 20 minutes

With 3/15 or 3/18 I can easily average 35+ an hour. Went out yesterday with no CT and no surge to be seen. Was about 15 an hour for 3 hours.

Shut it down and went home
Thats what I was kind of thinking it’d be. Are you working rush hours (mornings or pms)? I used to split my day and working something like 4am-10am then 2ish-6pm and various weekend hours depending. With more work at home folks I wasn’t sure how that would affect rush hours.

Hard to say per week as I drive part time (mostly AM rush, some PM rush, and every now and then the party hours on the weekends, sw burbs mostly)....but I'm usually $30-$45 an hour when its all said and done.
That’s how I used to structure my days and probably similar to what I would be doing now too. Thanks for the input!

I thought it would take longer as I didn’t plan on starting to drive until next week so I started the process this week and fortunately no hangs ups, I went into the hub and was approved almost immediately. Thanks for the response!

I'm close to O'Hare, drive as before 25-30 h online, it's like 1/3 pay cut for me. Even airport trips when it's busy are a joke. If nothing change quick I'm done with this.
Noted. I never really got hung up on the airport rides. If anything get in and out—didn’t care to hang around the lot or anything. Thanks for the feedback. Intending on just having it tie me over until something else falls in line. Hope things change for you moving forward!
