NO UBER LOVE for DRIVERS

Florida's TNC drivers live with the daily fear their personal auto insurer will discover they are an Uber driver. And cancel their policy. And maybe blacklist them. Or worse, have an on or off app accident with both Uber & Geico etc denying their medical & car repairs 24/7. And denying their "off duty" liability (when they hit you). Fact: No auto insurer in Florida covers an Uber driver on or off duty. Period. (Your insurer may deny your claim too if you get hit by an "off duty" Uber driver or rogue cash fare Uber driver)

Because Uber drivers dont have a Power Lobby representing them on TNC Bill negotiations, TNC drivers are suddenly in the same boat with taxi drivers: Legislation & Ordinances are written and regulators dont even know (or care?) Public Hire Drivers are alive.

TNC HB 509 & SB 1118 are no different.

There is a HUGE unaddressed gap in both bills. A deal was never brokered between Uber and Florida's Auto Insurers by Senator Simmons & Rep Gaetz to specify and mandate that Geico etc actually have to insure Uber drivers in the first place. The loophole gap says Uber drivers must maintain a personal policy with off duty liability coverage, but does not mandate a specific underwriter(s) to actually write personal policys with a rideshare endorsement. See where I'm going with this? Uber drivers are on the same uninsured Titanic they were on before 509 & 1118. And this is where you come in: It will be legislated by The State of Florida that neither Uber nor Personal Auto Insurers are financially liable for any "off duty" or "rogue cash fare" Uber driver. The final score will be WIN WIN for Uber & Insurance Interests and LOSE LOSE for Floridians and Uber drivers. Solution: Governor Scott must legislate Uber is Primary Insurer 24/7 unless Uber driver has a rideshare endorsement that can cover his car/injuries 24/7 AND his "off duty" liability. And Auto Insurers are not permitted to cancel drivers based on TNC activity. Please help me help all of us, and tell Tallahassee to amend the Bills

PLEASE CUT AND PASTE SEND TO GOV SCOTT SENATOR SIMMONS REP GAETZ SENATOR GARDINER & any/all media outlets and politicians see open letter on twitter earth_to_jen

The Governor cannot create legislation. The *****s Simmons & Gaetz will create this Frankenstein bill in collusion with their sugar daddy insurance lobbyists so all liability lands in the laps of drivers.
