At first I thought this pax was just rude or mental. But after I had canceled and got the fee, a call came in with the 415 prefix associated with Uber. He identified himself as Preston Scott ID number blah blah blah, a high level supervisor from Uber. After I'd finished laughing I hung up. I assume he would have gone on to ask for login details, password, etc, and then cashed out my week's money.

Then he requested again so I accepted and waited out the cancel fee. No idea who's paying but they ended up $8 in the hole.

Cancels are only $4 now?
It all depends on how far you travel to get to the pickup spot. Last week I drove about 9 MI to the pick up spot, I waited and she said she was on her way. I waited again but time ran out and I got $8.93 I believe. And before you jump on me, it was on a DF, and I was on 91 North I believe. So I was heading that direction to go home anyways.

I'm talking about on the customer end, the same end @Lord Summerisle was referring to? The person who lost $? Last I checked it was $5 per cancel on X meaning 2*5=$10? Or is that not how it works anymore?

Uber cancel fees are also variable for long pickups, minimum in my market is $3.75 for driver on X. I've had $25+ cancel fees while on pickup during a trip on DF. Lyft is same just that their minimum is now $2.

I don't understand, you drove something like 15 to 20 minutes to a pickup? Why did you even accept the trip in the first place?

It is never a win when you get a larger than normal cancel fee, it means you got paid base rates at best plus extra wasted time with no bonus, quest, surge or anything else on a long pickup.

How is the trip a shorty when you have to drive that far to pick up?

If you have to drive an hour to pick up, and the paid time is 5 minutes, that is still a minimum 1h5m trip no matter how you slice or dice it. You lucked out it was a cancel because you got paid more that way but you still lost.
