Welp, local news and our governor have my area at 70+ COVID19 positive infections.

As drivers, at what point would you wear a surgical mask?

If you were a pax and your driver showed up wearing a mask, would you rest assuredly or cancel?

when I'm infected. Masks only work for THEM to not further spread it. For healthy folks, forgetaboutit. Useless.

edit: I should add if I were to get infected AND sick I certainly would not be driving and/or leaving the house. My media room would become my world. I'm ok with that. :coolio:

During my travels, I find that Asian college students are wearing masks as a showing of "literal" support of their fellow humans in the target areas. When a driver shows up to pick up a rider, he or she has probably made an informed decision to protect themselves and protect their passengers. It is difficult to determine what is truth, what is exaggeration and what is blatant lie about the spread of the this Coronavirus abd the actual sickness or death rate. Every media outlet gives its own spin on it. Can't trust the media and cant even trust what comes out of the government sources. Taking safety precautions is all about personal choice.

If I felt it necessary to wear a mask or require my pax to wear masks, I wouldn't be driving - I will not drive in a mask.

If a driver came to pick me up as a pax and they were wearing a mask - that's their choice. However, I would ask them to show me their face before I got into the car then they would be free to wear it. If they refused to show me their face, I wouldn't get in the car. I think that's reasonable.

I have not been driving so I am fine. Also was supposed to be nyc today with husband and son but husband said no and we are staying home.

Good decision, really. I wouldn't be surprised if some sort of state of emergency is declared within next month. I personally would love staying home for 2 weeks.
Well he had some business to attend but he was not comfortable to be in NYC.

I don't mind staying home for 2 weeks. I have enough food, water, toilet paper for 2 months.
Also my house is far from other houses .

Honestly, I'm having a conflict...I want my pax to feel safe and confident that I'm doing what's best while providing service. And I'm very needy of the income as well. Does this make me selfish and foolish?
As embarrassing as it may sound, I NEED to drive to make any amount of income to support myself and my family. I do have a W2 job, but it's just not enough. And this quandary honestly sucks.
I'm not ready to fail my family... I've been the sole provider for a very long time.
I want to do what's right, and am confused in not truly knowing what that may be at the present moment. 😔

Don't worry about pax, worry about yourself and family. If you feel they might be sick simply don't touch the back for the next 2 days. I was lucky to find 2 bottles of hand San last week. Everything is sold out!

Aren't you the person that bought the wrong masks?
And personally I drive a truck through two states that have the virus and not much has changed. The next few weeks will be interesting but I'm not donning my mask yet. I might be wary driving passengers around close quarters though especially with the count of 70, much higher risk than me solo in the cab.
If we get 10-20 I might start wearing mine.

Didn't buy masks, they are standard issue PPE for my job. Not respfit N95. Be safe! I'm driving tonight and spraying lysol on surfaces between rides.
