I've recently noticed that multiple times I am "conveniently" in that little blank area with surges either on all four sides of me or on all three. Like I am on a shitty little island. Hmmmm.....trying to get me to drive to the surge areas maybe??

Also, I love it where the rep says that they send you texts on surges and you should look out for those for the best information. Hmmmm....you mean the texts are going to be more accurate than the ****ing Map I am looking right at??? Makes absolutely no sense.

Not just that but by sending a text you will have to find a spot to pull over and park to read the Text or hope for a red light. Their practices seem to encourage us to waste time or break the law.

Agreed one thing all experienced drivers say and one I learned fast to adhere to is do not trace surges. I've seen a fake surges pop up and disappear within a minute or less.

What uber does in regards to surges is utterly misleading and a bit unethical IMO.

If you are in a surge area and a trip comes in, look at the bottom of the trip before you accept it and see if it has a surge rate next to their name. If it does not, just do not take that trip and keep on waiting until you get one with the surge or the surge goes away.

Is the surge number in red?

I won't be in a surge area for a couple of weeks. I'll try and remember to look then.

scottbomb the only exception I know of is the 2am surge for Friday and Saturday nights. Still if you are not downtown don't try to chase it. Most of the time it ends quickly, less then 15 minutes. I've not driven during football season so will have to wait and see if surges happen after the game ends.
