I drove a indian guy out of EWR about a month ago.

We were talking. He mentioned he drove yellow while in school for about 2 years. This is all before Uber.

Said it was good money.

Anyway. He had a relative who had two medallions. He got into a crash and was hard for him to drive. His laywer told him to sell the medallions. He sold it for large profit. This was I belive he said 2010 before Uber started.

Said he used the money to move to Charlotte and buy a 7-11 and a gas station. Making more money than driving. Has like three or four gas station now.

Basically it's all about timing. If you sold it 2010-2011. You would have been good.

The Taxi King was pretty much inflating the price of the medallion. Dude pretty much monopolized it, little guy never had a chance.
Yep, Freidman wrecked yellow and screwed drivers, now he's in deep chit, his wife divorced him and she's suing him, he sold his penthouse in Tribeca, and his medallions are being auctioned off, he had issues with Bloomberg back in the days anyone remember when Bloomberg promised him to destroy yellow in Madison square garden after a game ? he deserves whatever happens to him, remember the lawsuit against him for overcharging drivers above lease caps ? The guy is getting some serious Karma right now.

I wonder if the mogul who's medallions went to auction is that Russian guy who owns a bunch of medallions.

These days u better invest wisely in something ppl will always need and never stop using
There's really nothing safe to invest in at this point unless you wanna see small returns.... could invest in NYC real estate but the returns are stupid low. Opening a store? no shot.... nothing really with this internet/real life war going on right now.

Yep this bloomberg or whatever his name was, promised to destroy him , but subject was different . It was all about new Nissan city signed contract with , and mandatory ( back then ) % of fleet that had to be hybrid .
Don't forget Bloomberg is an investor in Lyft so it was more than just that.

True, most investment's are a gamble.
A better bet now is to try and get grants and gamble with someone else's money
