I noticed some very FUNNY MATH for the first time on my pay sheet. This could of been going on since day one many months ago so maybe I am just a DUMMY. Maybe I am the the last person to figure this out but if I am the first I want to share this with the rest of the drivers. This is a little confusing and I had to look at this about 4 times and do my own math calculations so please follow me here.

It appears to me Uber is taking out their 20% 0r 25% commission on total fare which includes their newly increased "Rider Fee" that us drivers never see a penny of. This means to me they are double dipping.

Example: If you have an UBERX total fare that is $31.60 and out of this $31.60 the rider fee is $1.60 which us drivers never see and we don't get any commission for. You would think Uber should take it's 20% or 25% commission from the fare after you minus the $1.60 riders fee right? It should be $30.00 - $6.00 = $24.00 for the driver. Not on my pay sheet. They are taking out 20% on the full $31.60 which includes the safe rider fee. This means I am getting charged to collect a fee for them that I don't even see. In my text message from them I thought they said the drivers would not be effected by this rider fee increase????

The difference between 20% of $31.60 .... and 20% of $30.00 ........ is.........$6.32 vs $6.00. That's .32 cents on just one ride

If this is a pax fee like they say than they should charge the pax the extra 20% and not us drivers!!

After calculations I am paying them around .30 a ride for this. On 20 rides a day this comes out to about 400 rides a month estimated x .30 cents a ride = $120 a month and $1,440 a year!!!!

Check your pay. Please weigh in on this. Is this sneaky or what? Where am i going wrong here?

Uber takes SRF first. Then they take 20%. It's not 20% of the total you see at the end of the ride. Before the SRF increase, a $5 ride was -1 for SRF, then 20% of 4.00. 80 cents. $3.20 take home.
NO....Please check your pay sheet. I think a lot of us are being ripped off and don't even realize it. I checked mine 4 times and that isn't the way Uber is calculating my SRF and I bet yours is being calculated the same way as mine. They are taking 20% commission on the SRF too. I checked the math 3 times on a bunch of fares.

OK. Look at your payment statement. Total fares are not listed. Ignore the SRF fees, which are the 1.60s in the middle. Look at the first number on the left hand side, and look at the second number in parentheses on the right. That's how you do the math.

If you are looking at your earnings statement for example a $15.53 fare may look like like this

Payments Deductions Earnings
Fare Rider Fee Rider Fee Uber Fee Total
13.58 1.75 (1.75) (2.72) 10.86

And from the trip history it looks like this:
Duration
19:12
Miles
9.21
Fare
$15.33

Are you saying that Uber is taking more than they say they are taking - the SRF is not being double dipped with commission..

I know it sucks - the Uber net take is close to 33% - it must suck even more for the new drivers on the 25% commission.

Come on guys, this has been an ongoing thing forever. Uber's commission is based on the fare less the safe ride fee. Yes, Uber collects 100% of the safe ride fee and 20% of the rest of the fee which includes the pickup, mileage and time. Uber does not get any of the tolls or other surcharges. I have a spreadsheet with all my rides and it is the same each and every time. All in all from the total fare (if you do not go into NYC) then Uber collects more than 20% of what the passenger pays. When you go into NYC the driver gets more than 80% due to the $20 surcharge, however don't forget that you have to pay the toll on that ride through your EZ Pass statement. Since SRF increased from $1.00 to $1.60 the numbers look even worse for the driver based on what the passenger pays, however driver still gets 80% of the pickup, mileage and time. That has not changed, except for the new drivers that only get 75% of those numbers.
