I was in NYC and the app was sending requests to Westchester Co and Connecticut. I was like WTF !? There was no way I was driving 25 minutes to pick up someone for what was likely a 5 minute ride!

I was on the Major Deegan by 230th St and got a ping for someone by Boston Rd (13 min away). I took it. He only needed to ride 4 minutes. $3 tip and good conversation.

So I started refusing. Refused 3 of such requests then turned off my app and didn't turn it back on until I was squarely in South Harlem!

Acceptance Rate: 83%....... It was 89% when I started today.

Is there a more constructive way of handling this situation without getting my acceptance rate to take a hit ?

Accept...then call pax and say I'm too far away, they cancel and that's it ?

it happen with me when i was in brooklyn near to verrazano bridge n i got ping to pick up someone from staten island.which is cost ezpass for just pick up the pax.

just accept the requist and drive on opposite direction.
I actually laughed when I read your message. So, I guess the pax will cancel when they see the waiting time increasing! I was hesitant to accept and ask them to cancel because I'm unsure if I'd be recorded.

This morning I was in mount Vernon with the app on and got a ping from Rye NY...13 miles away. If u don't take the ride I don't think there's anyway to keep your acceptance rate from decreasing
We probably got the same ping.... I did not accept it.

You have created a monster. I did exactly what you said.... In one case, I called and told pax I was heading to Times Sq to drop them off and it would take a long time to get back to them. "I'd be happy to pick you up, but it will be a while. I'm sorry you were added to my queue" I said. He cancelled and I went offline.

Call the pax and tell the pax you are stuck in traffic because of an accident in front of you. And suggest they cancel and request another ride for a quicker pick up...
I like this one.

I don't know. I'm a little concerned because I read somewhere that there are some parameters..... 'must maintain an acceptance rate of over 80 percent" for example.
Ok so 1 vote for uninformed. Now that you are informed go inform others. You can have a 1% accept rate and be active
Cancellations on the other hand will get you in trouble because those canceled by pax counts too.
Acceptance - no one cares about. Cancellations - no-no! Just ignore pings.

Wow... I had no idea.I thought I take the hit if I cancel... a lady kept ordering requesting a pool ride and cancelling...ordered again... cancelled 30 seconds later. Again, the same thing.... finally, she stayed in the pool, but when I got close to her pick-up location, she was too lazy to walk to the corner - which would have been much more efficient for the other 3 riders and me (and she sounded so stressed/pissed). So, I cancelled her.

The other three were like, "She cancelled? That's more space for us!" I was like "Yeah, she cancelled."
