When the dust finally settles on this pandemic and millions of jobs no longer exist, I predict that people will be lining up to drive Uber and Lyft.

Especially if Joe Biden is somehow elected president. The guy is seemingly unable to string together a coherent thought from what I can tell. Nevermind run the country.

Of course Biden will be just a figurehead. The democrats will prop him up behind a teleprompter and hope that he can read their talking points.

Behind the scenes of course it will be president Pelosi or perhaps president Alexandria Cortez running the country. And the liberals will finally have what they've always wanted. The overthrow of the United States.

If it comes down to that, I think its better to be homeless and live under a bridge than drive for Uber LOL

The doomsday scenario that is constantly being portrayed every time a store closes down or people get laid off is laughable, to say the least. Pier One or Sears or K-Mart etc shuts down, lays off hundreds of workers and immediately someone posts here about the new drivers coming. This goes on ad-infinitum, but what people do not understand, these folks who are out of work, are used to a steady paycheck, something U/L will never provide them. They are also used to $15+ per hour for their labors in a controlled environment, another item missing from the U/L checklist. The reality is many will sign up for the gig economy but will quickly get the sour taste that we all have from doing this. It is not what the platforms made it to seem. There is no magic $$ generated, plus any money an unemployed person earns is deducted from their weekly benefits. The one thing that sets the drivers who actually earn $$ in this gig, are the entrepeneurial minded folks who know how to profit from thinking outside the box. Everyone made fun of @SilverToyota and his far-fetched ideas, but he/she actually was thinking up some good ideas.
So, let the new ants come, they will die of starvation swiftly, but most of us will still be here grinding away making our quotas, albeit the hard way, but still.
I happen to like DD because his sarcastic wit is right on point, the problem being too may readers here do not realize the true sarcasm he brings. The printed word never conveys the depth that the spoken word does, just learn to read his posts with sarcasm in mind, and you will get a good chuckle every time.

I do agree with the OP's thought and I certainly appreciate sarcasm and may have been guilty of doing that myself in the past... (no one seems to notice though....:confusion:).

If Mr. Biden does become president the above scenario may be true or not...
Over the history of our country there have been presidents that were perfectly adequate placeholders that cause no harm or foul... Jimmy Carter is a good example for our lifetime. He is a great humanitarian but ho hum as a President.
I suspect Mr. Biden will do just that. Then maybe everyone will calm down for those 4 Years.

I don't know when it happened that no one is allowed to have a different opinion about any subject . If two people look at a green box (notice I did not use red or blue as the color so hold your angry posts....) one guy say's it's lime-green another says it's light-green is that a reason to scream at each other just because someone else has a different opinion?

Zero sarcasm below this line:

As I posted before I have no skin in the game. I can downsize and wait out any depression because I'll be dead and gone before this country erupts into a shooting civil war.

Real suggestion here for both sides of the political argument. Take all that passion and do something with it. Volunteer to work on campaigns for whoever you want to lead this country. Go to rallies (not now of course) to support your guy. Go out and do something about it. I used to go to anti-war rallies when I got out of the service. I passed out flyers for candidates.

I now leave it up to all you other people here to do the right thing, and I will give the next president the respect the office deserves no matter who wins the election...

Well said as usual... Especially for someone who has a sarcasm meter in his back pocket.

Of late, I have put away my sarcastic side, for the time being. I have actually taken to only reading topics here in the NJ group that are of interest to me, and hitting the "mark read" button and fleeing the scene after. Couple that with the heavy lifting done by the "ignore filter" and I see no need for sarcasm. If a thread is not of interest I move on. There are a lot of very smart folks in here who know what they speak of, but for every one of those there are untold number of the opposite. But, I am boring even myself with this post, time to get in my whip and go driving in Lakewood. I love the 3 block rides for $3.63! A home run if ever there were one.
