As a new driver I assume this is rare, but I have heard of the occasional driver getting a trip that's 2-3 hours long or even longer. It seems like I have heard drivers either love or hate the really long trips. I personally would love the idea of getting a call from here to Portland, even though I might not make a dime in my return home, at least im getting a free trip to somewhere outside Seattle. So far the longest trip i have ever gotten was from Lynnwood to Tacoma. Anybody have any tips or areas i should focus on to get that REALLY long trip. This is where I thought going to a military base might be a good option potentially, but I don't have to much experience with JBLM other than a few runs there. My first few weeks driving uber, I experimented with driving up north all the way to canada with the Destination filter on hoping for a Canada run on a weekend but no luck there. Literally zero calls in that direction. I still went to canada though for a day trip. On my way back home it was the same thing, literally no calls coming back to seattle from canada until I hit lynnwood on I5 going south
"Don't be alarmed, I had taken a pax on one of those trips on a late evening, from New York NY to Deep end in Long Island. $225. One week later Lyft contacted me that they would have to take back the money because it was a fraudulent charge.
Now, you ask me how as a driver do you know or figure out what ride is fraudulent or not? You don't and you can't, because you're just a damn driver.
So, I was out of $225 that night".

If you still want to take them, you might want to use destination filter. Just set it to Portland or Eugene Oregon and position yourself by train & bus stations and keep praying!
Btw, no one will take an uber to Canada, you have more chances going south including JBLM.
That's not quite true. I've seen a couple of trips from Seattle to various towns north of Bellingham pop up on UZURV. Trips not to Vancouver but almost t the border.
I had a random trip to Portland on Lux SUV. Happened at 11:30 on a Sunday night from Capitol Hill. My largest fare ever.
All of my super long runs have happened late at night when there are no other forms of transportation and people are desperate to get to their destination. Working when the ferry, train, or buses have ended service would be your best bet.

Short answer... No. It's pretty much luck, depending on your POV. I wouldn't take a 3hr trip. But we all have our own personal situations that will dictate that.
Don't expect to get trips like that ever. Lynwood to Tacoma is even longer than the longest trip ive ever got and ive been driving for over a year, and i play my game fairly well. A trip is considered to be long when its over 10 miles, you're talking 100 miles trips.
Focus on realistic ways for you to maximize your profits, such as prime time runs, incentives and bonuses, airport runs, etc.
I caught my first 45 long trip notification today in the Udistrict at 1.1 mega surge. I was thinking I was heading to Tacoma but got sent to the outlet mall by Tulalip Casino. Farthest north Ive ever been in Wash!
I asked them how long they would be and said 3 - 4 hours and didnt want to wait. Drive back sucked as traffic was meh, and 1.5 hours RT for 51 not that exciting, but worth it as good to get out of town for a bit. I put the filter on and it didnt hit until Shoreline.
Good PAX spoke Chinese quietly all way as I just watched the scenery.
I buy JUNO for 51.2o and watch it crater to 15 dollars
