We now saw what the 200 Black/SUV drivers did in Dallas. They forced Uber to backtrack.
Well, I think we can do the same here.

Are you tired of low fares?
Are you tired of getting the threat or have been whitelisted for cancelling too many times?
Are you tired of Uber pushing you around?
Are you tired of having to work long hours to get close to making what you made in less time a few months ago?
Are you tired of snub riders?

We have more than 200 drivers on this LA forum alone. If so, just let us drivers know if you are willing to not go and driver for Uber for 48 hours.

I have an idea:

Imagine an app to allow you protest something, just anything.
Input protest action: Uber Off.
Input Number Off Supporters to actively start protest: 1,000 (let's say I want to join only if 1000 others have pledged)
Current number of protestors in group: 777

As more people join, everyone can see the commitment of drivers. At some point we will see an avalanche bringing down the house.

Don't tell me it will not work. I thought about this a lot. A piece of software to loosely allow groups of people to define a method of protest and at which point they want to actively join the protest.

Similar to group on. Except it is more like 'gang up on'.

I am in too. But then what? First, we need to organize some kind of committee and elect several leaders to go to Uber and state our demands first. Then, after they refuse or ignore us we could show them our strength. I think right now L.A. has reached a critical mass state when more and more drivers hate Uber so much that are ready to counter Ubers's obtuse force with the drivers' united force. We need to use the moment, organize drivers and channel the hatred that Uber so conveniently cultivated in us towards pushing Uber to negotiating with drivers, creating the new Partners agreement and finally have representatives in the Uber's heart to control and influence its actions.

Not enough drivers read this forum. I suggest you get Bruner phones or friends/family phones that won't be using requesting and order an uber, text them about the strike, then cancel. Get the word out. And get flyers, locate them on the map and have a few of you drive to them. Also get drivers personal number and keep them on file if you need future strikes. Set a date and have eveyone agree. If you see a driver on date of strike, order it and text them to log off we are on strike. Organize it. Meet somewhere and get it together.

Phoenix market here, but I've been offline since Sep 11 when the hit us with another rate cut. I don't make 12 dollars to drive to the airport when I used to land around 16.

****em.
Ps: out of work computer tech seeks entry level job in Phoenix.

Why not make it longer than a day or 2 by doing Lyft exclusively for certain days or entire weeks. Timing is poor because Lyft is dropping rates in a couple days... but if you hit driver bonuses and tips, it has been the equivalent of 1.5x surge Uber rides. I'm sure many here can't afford to not drive and Lyft isn't nearly as popular, but at least it's something.
I haven't read the Dallas form yet, but having 200 X drivers not drive for UberX for a couple days will probably be barely noticed. At least not noticed enough for Uber to make any changes without a strike and media attention.

Yes. It only sounds easy. Strike! To really achieve something it will take some serious efforts.
1) Organization
2) Elect leaders
3) Register members, establish membership dues. Money is needed to get a word out ( flyers, posters, billboards, social network sites etc.)
4) When enough drivers register ( say 1,000) send a list of demands to Uber with a proposition to sit down and negotiate a new partners agreement or amend the old one.
5) Refusal
6) One hour strike on Saturday night or Friday night to give them a glimpse of the coming future.
a) create a team of members who will be sending requests to strike-breakers and cancel after 4 min with texts about joining the strike.
7) Second attempt to get down to negotiations.
8) Still no go?
9) Full-blown strike for two days. All 1,000 drivers and many more will join like in Dallas.
a) divide the city into zones and assign members to control strike-breakers into each zone.
This scenario might work and Uber might be changed to the better.
In any case even if it doesn't work, to lose such a shitty job is not a big deal anyway.
