I’m currently in a round trip Lux SUV that involves a ton of waiting. Depending on how long I wait I stand to lose about $40-$60 due to the max fare of $560. The ride was under someone else’s account so I don’t want to make a big fuss about having the rider ping me twice, since there could be issues trying to match up later.

The ride started in the IE, is going to LA, and coming back. Given that it’s a slow weekend (and should be happy about the unicorn) and am unlikely to get any long trip back home, much less on a Lux SUV, would you all just eat the loss and not make a fuss about second trip, or insist that they do a second ping to get my full fare?

Maybe the app will let you know it's maxed out hopefully that way they've got to ping you again. Keep us posted.

It won't let you know. You just keep going like normal. I've had this happen before but I only lost $15 on that fare. These dudes don't seem likely to tip either although I did get a free meal from them

The loss is the loss dead miles or not, I would explain to the pax whats going on. Maybe they will hook you up or just do the re ping so they get you.

Explain and do the re-Ping. Explain to them what the deal is they should be cool.

Calculate the pt/distance of your class so you know what trips to end early or ask for a re ping, lyft won't let you know, they'll let you work for free, never work for free

I'd kick them out if the refused, call the cops if they make a fuss, or let them call

End the trip yourself and say lyft did it automatically because you hit the maximum fare (they won't know), if it comes down to it tell the cops the trip hit it's max and its illegal to turn into an illegal taxi just cause the pax wants you to give them a free ride, the police will ether tell them to get out or properly and legally pay for the service of the rideshare...

I've wondered if I'll need to do that and that is my plan of action

End the trip and charge them on square. Problem solved.

I had fares on LUX SUV for $860 and $780 with no problem, one of those fares was over 7 hours.
Did you have PT. I know the max is multiplied by PT

Did you get the rappers again?? Behalf your max is $560. It's $525 for the 75% club
Not the same guys but these were wanna be dudes that we were even more entitled. Wanted me to wait by the artist lot at Citizens Bank Arena since some rapper was supposedly gonna get them in. Half the time was spent there until they decided to leave when they figured they weren't getting in. This guy took up 6 hours of my time when the last one only took up 3. Also thought Lux SUVs can park at any random DTLA spot without worrying about a ticket because the pax riding those have "status".

When I ran the numbers, the fare wouldve been approximately at $440 when I made the last stop in Silverlake before heading back. So I ended up driving another 60 miles toward my direction for $120 which left me 10 min from home. That's a little better than base rate XL headed back which I never would've gotten on my own. I definitely got shorted on Lux SUV rates, but considering where it left me and how shitty the week has been I'll take it.

Check the actual fare, since we can do that now on Lyft. If they charged him more than the "max fare" then demand your cut. Otherwise, good on you for making the most of the situation.
