Hello, is anyone here in the Chicago area using Amazon Flex? Specifically I am trying to find delivery areas in the Waukegan, IL area. I signed up for Flex, I live in Beach Park, IL but the closes area is in Mundelein, IL almost 45 minutes away. I have seen Amazon Flex drivers in my area but I'm not sure how they were able to get this location. How can I change the area I want to deliver, or at least search for different pickup locations? Thanks.

Antioch is the farthest north I have had to deliver, Mundelein Dch block.

Morton Grove block, can be Hoffman as well, Schaumburg plus Palatine.

Expectation is that we deliver rain or clear weather. Returning to Dch with undelivered packages due to rain and traffic will trigger a support ticket, and a nastygram email. If recurring, we get fired.

Corporate should be faster yes? Drop at reception, have the guy or gal at counter sign for pax..

The million dollar homes, gated subdivisions with Porches and Teslas in the garage.. At Long Grove and Vernon Hills.. Mile long driveways.. I get my 8k steps every time I do Mundy block. And i get "lusty" at the European cars on the driveway...
You're awesome, thanks.

Yes, there is some serious cash up North. One stunning part for me were the mansions that sit on cliffs overlooking Lake Michigan. I felt dumb for not realizing that Lake Bluff was literally Bluffs overlooking the Lake. ;) The only thing I dislike is some of the homeowners don't feel the need to have address markers. That can be a time suck.

My Morton Grove Block was Schaumburg and the corporate deliveries were in the corporate centers with multiple tenants, so I went up to the suites. One was 4th floor, 5th floor, 11th floor. At least that one was 3 deliveries, unlike the one where I went up and waited for the receptionist to return from break. Went 20 minutes over on a 4 hour block.

Thanks for the rain information - I have rain bags now. I have yet to return a package and my first report last week said I had zero deliveries that didn't reach the customer. I was happy about that.

Did two out of Lisle yesterday and have another this morning. That place gets jammed at block times. Both blocks were North Aurora area. No heavy traffic, easy subdivisions, all the houses are numbered... rock and roll time. 37 packages on each and finished early... 2:04 and 2:27 on 3 hour blocks. Nice.

Different rules at each DCH. Mundelein is pretty chill, almost self-service. Morton Grove you scan a QR code, wear a vest, very regimented, check out required. Lisle you scan a QR, have to have a Flex Badge, directive staff, check out required. But all 3 centers have been very nice people.

I definitely need better shoes. I am also thinking about buying Flex magnetic car markers. Like $15 bucks for 2 on Ebay... oh and some more orange wicking shirts!

When does Lisle release their blocks? I have a daytime job and I can't do regular business hours Lisle blocks. I get reserved blocks for Mundy, McKinley, but nothing for Lisle. I really wish they would let is see both Logistics and Prime (groceries with tips, Wood Dale). Yes Lake County pricey homes, they don't sense the need for house address sign unlike Naper and DuPage towns (except Wheaton). Lisle, there are blue vest Flip gal and old white guy who are "barkers." Have to follow what they say. Car magnet sign, that's nice. But don't think I would want to advertise I have Amazon pax in the car, a lure for car jacking if delivering for McKinley block. I so want to work for Amazon I interviewed for Northbridge mall pop up store part time. Huge office space on 227 West Monroe. Reimbursement policy for travel, even for just an interview. Neat people who interviewed me 8/1, all from Cali.

Not sure I would want to work in warehouse tho, job fair yesterday at Romeoville, company is hiring 50k nationwide. Amazon even has a team doing pharma research.. If I were an AbbVie and or Abbott exec, I would start worrying now. This company will take over the universe.

"Alexa, buy me a healthy whole foods." She did.

Do you guys do better then $12 on hour? Ty
That depends on what you consider "an hour". I was paid $120 for 2 blocks of 3 hours.

Today, I made $20 an hour for time on delivery.
I made $17.50 per hour on delivery after gas expense.
If you count hours as door to door (time I left home to time I got home), I made $12 an hour or $10.50 after gas.
If you count per hour as less all expenses and IRS mileage deduction, I made $0 per hour.

They are better planners than Lisle. Tons of Logistics business, maybe due to closeness to Mke Distribution hub. When Romeoville becomes operational am wondering what that will mean for Lisle blocks. However, if you've ever have had to return to Lisle after 9pm eg 10pm, you'll see 500 ++ white Amazon vans parked north and south of lot, and inside warehouse ie they have a million employee drivers. On other news, I didn't get the job at Northbridge mall pop up store. :(

Great question and I don't know. I was thinking today that I need to start logging.
Holy crap, dude -- start logging your miles NOW. Especially if you're driving 90 miles round trip (plus tolls!!!) off the clock!

You're going to get a 1099 for this gig next January, and you better have records (written, detailed) of all your miles and tolls. Otherwise you'll get nailed with income + self employment taxes up the kiester.

You can deduct $0.535 per mile from your driveway there and back every day, which should greatly reduce your tax liability, but you need to be able to show that you were keeping track all year long, not slapping together a fake spreadsheet on April 14th.

Today... 28 pax in my Lisle 3-hour block cart and the guy behind me gets jack.. He goes, "do you need help with delivering your packages?" I be like, "that's not up to me. Ask the Flip super." Lisle is so dumb. How do I get 28 pax cart and the other guy with a Lincoln on same 6pm block doesn't get anything and gets paid doing jack? All he did was flirt with the ladies at Lisle Dch. Smh.

I will just focus on Lisle blocks.. Mundy too far. Tonight was all or mostly re attempts. Finished a 6-9pm block by a little after 8pm, and skipped hustling for Grubhub . I had to scan one big bag's contents as the QR on the bag wasn't working.. Finished in decent time.

Hello all,

New to the forum, looking to do some evening deliveries for flex. I saw a few others have attempted the same with no solid results or openings. Does anyone know if there is anything in the pipeline? I've emailed support only to be told they don't have space and ive been put on a wait list.

Any help or advice is appreciated!

Everytime i do a 3 hr block, samsung health tells tells me I burned about 300 calories and walked 3 - 4 miles.

mundelein is about 27 miles from my house, would you guys drive that far to do a block? My car is not hybrid, 20mpg.
My phone measures steps. Varies.. Can be 4 to 5 to 7k++ steps. I do drive to Mundy for a block.. This is just so am active in system, also get my steps in, a bit of extra $$. I drive a Prius. I prefer Lisle Dch. Closer.

My answer is yes obviously. 38+ miles from home but I try to do 2-3 blocks while I am up here. And this is where work is consistently available.
Hard to do back to back blocks during a Saturday.. Glad you can do this weekdays.. That's the best way to do it since it is a hike to get there.

You just have to wait it out.. Supply and demand. Too much supply of ants.. Just like Uber.

By the way, you'll love Long Grove and Buffalo Grove deliveries.. 1 mile long driveways. I park by the curb, I make it a point to walk from curb to front door ie I don't drive up the customer's driveway. Great workout.. Getting paid.

Yeah... for regular suburbs I don't pull in driveways, it's faster to just swing over to the curb -- but for Long Grove, Lake Forest, Hawthorne Woods, etc, I ain't hoofin that far. My phone says 6-7k steps per day when I do 2 @ 3 or 4 hours usually, which is just fine. I like Mundelein just fine, it's 10 minutes from home and I very seldom get any apartment buildings (I studiously avoid anything to the east when possible, I'd much rather drive a bit farther and not screw around in Waukegan.)

Saturday morning Mundelein had 8am blocks, which was a first for me. I had an 11 am 3.5 hr scheduled already, but woke up early so I grabbed an 8:30 2 hour one. They actually had carts dragged out in the parking lot for us to load up, because the white vans were still loading up inside. Did the first run up to Round Lake, drove back, and got my next block... in Round Lake, next subdivision over. Go figure.

I'm just glad to see DCH4's volume has returned to normal, things were a bit sparse for a week or so. Going like gangbusters this week.... now to get Amazon to stop sending me reserved blocks 3x per day -- for DCH1 (Mckinley Park, downtown. PASS!)

Same here... They have finally stopped sending me reserved blocks in McKinley. No.

Just did my first block ever.

51 packages in Waukegan area. Had to hustle, but finished everything in 3 hours. So far I like it. Got one more for tomorrow.
Oh great. Another Uber driver migrating to Flex. More competition. Smh.

Had a 6-9 pm block last night, dropped the GH block for Flex. First three paxes (boxes in this context) were by Orchard and Blackberry Farm. Took 88 from Lisle regardless that we don't get laid for tolls, knowing sun is out before 8pm. Went around the Farm and found a gate open. Left the pax on employee Gift shop door, wasn't about to return that pax all the way back to Lisle. That was the only problematic pax I had, a business address on after hours shift. Had to drive through downtown Aurora to deliver last three paxes. Finished about 7:40 pm, 40+ miles and made three hours worth of clam$ pay. Have one today and a reserved block in Mundy next Saturday. Not sure why am not seeing offers at Morton Grove. I don't do McKinley. Wondering if you guys have done that Dch. And how can we have Prime and Logistics at the same time? Prime (groceries) apparently allows gratuities. Prime Dch is Goose Island and I believe Wood Dale.

And what's the deal with Lisle Dch Backlot? For all the billions they make they cannot make the warehouse owner re pave and level the lot? Also, why not have a traffic cop at the door like Mundy? All these hungry ants cut a one lane queue and create a second line cutting everyone else off. And please fix the sharp ramp at Flex entry. Almost took out my front bumper the first time.

Lisle Dch worker 1: "Can I get your name and your badge number?" Worker 2: "Can I get your name and your badge number?" Worker 3: "Can I get your name and badge number?" Smh.

OK rant over.. Have to go do my Flex block now.

Did 3 blocks at mundelein today. 2.5hrs and 2 - 3hr ones.

Usually I finish with 1 hour to spare, but that 2.5 hrs block killed me. 50 boxes in lake Zurich area. Barely finished on time. The 3 hour blocks were a breeze. Finished them 45-1 hour early each of them. Lake villa was really interesting and round lake area was super condensed.

9200 steps by the way.

Learned my lesson what to do when you have a pax and not listed on app, and you have finished deliveries ie you cannot do additional pax pick up as the app closed out the block you were on:
1) take a photo of shipping label
2) don't waste time calling support
3) manually deliver using Google maps for nav, better anyhow
4) deliver pax
5) Go back to Dch and have supervisor scan your photo and ask them to mark it delivered
6) Feel better that you didn't have any pax returns to Dch.

Good idea. I was calling support to mark it delivered.

I think that's fine as well, as long as you kept the TBA info. Less hassle and no need to return to Dch.

I always confirm the end of the route and pick up any missed scans. You can also confirm that a package is in your itinerary by searching by scan.
What I should have done was confirm the last two boxes, verify if they went to the one last address on the itinerary. The app closed and deemed my block completed after the last delivery, although I had that one box left. There was no way to do manual pickup at that point, as far as I know. Or is there?

Unable to sign up and I live 10 minutes from Mundelein.
Just like Uber, too many ants.
