Passenger Drop Off:
( I assume this will be the pickup spot too)

The passenger drop-off area is at the north end of the Mopac (Loop 1) Pedestrian Bridge on Stephen F. Austin Drive next to Austin High School. The pedestrian footbridge runs underneath Mopac. This is the closest drop point to the Festival grounds. It is a short walk across the footbridge. Access the drop off point by entering Stephen F. Austin Drive, near Austin High, from the East. This is the only official drop off point. It's quick and easy. For safety reasons, please don't attempt to drop off passengers at other areas near the park.

Note:
There is no official festival parking at Austin High School or on Stephen F. Austin Drive. It is a short walk across the footbridge to the festival portal at the Town Lake Entrance. Please note that Stephen F. Austin Drive will be closed to thru-traffic (other than those dropping off festival goers) during the Festival from about 9am to Midnight. Access to Austin High parking lots will be limited to those attending Austin High events. Also, there is NOT pick-up and drop-off being allowed on the Access Road of Mopac and the Barton Springs Road/Robert E. Lee area. Persons may be ticketed.

Road Closures:

Road closures will begin the Friday before and end the Monday after.
  1. Barton Springs Road at Robert E. Lee (Barton Springs Pool Parking accessible at Robert E. Lee Entrance)
  2. MoPac Frontage at Columbus Drive (No travel allowed into Zilker Park or Barton Springs Pool from this road)
  3. Stratford Drive at Nature Center Drive

**EDIT**

Here's an official Austin City road closure map.

As a cabbie who might be in the process of being driven out of business by the Ubers, I actually feel a tinge of sympathy for you drivers here. The drop off location isn't quite as close as you might think and the traffic could be bad.

The taxis have a super smooth drop off that I wish could be replicated for football games and other big events.

It's easy to be super smooth when there are full half miles of streets shut down. Not quite doable for most events.

I have a super secret drop off location where i tell the pax they have a majestic walk along the lake that ends in a bridge over barton creek/ ACL festival entrance. Can you decipher my treasure map lol ?
I'll take the bait: I am going to guess the intersection of Riverside and s. Lamar. Around where the Taco Cabana used to be. I would be selling the"majestic" walk strongly because that is a lengthy walk.

Close enough, lol. Its exactly .5 miles, but look how far they have to walk at the official Uber drop off. I dont' think you can get anywhere close to the gates, so they'll have to accept a walk one way or the other. Any one who goes to ACL without expecting to walk will be ejected immediately.

I suppose you could get them a little closer by going into the Zachary Scott theater parking lot, but it doesn't seem worth the trouble.

Cabbies have an official drop off that pads a little mileage on the trip. Some Folks, to save a few $, request us to drop them at Barton Srings and S Lamar. We can be ticketed for doing that.

One of our drivers, when requested to perform the illegal drop, would instead drop them at the Whataburger on S 1st and Barton Springs by convincing the riders they could take a cheap pedicab the remainder of the way. Of course, the pedicab rickshaw driver would have charged far more than the passengers would have paid by simply going to the official drop off.

Never ever try to nickel and dime a cabbie.
