an above par acceptance rate will allow you to see how far and in what direction your next trip is going. So with the new surge pricing it seems that do you have to sacrifice acceptance rate in order to maximize surge pricing.
So what are y'all think acceptance rate worth it or not?

Being able to see distance and direction sure is helpful... for deciding if you want to accept the ride or not.

What good is information you can't use for fear of losing that same information?

Accepting every ride doesn't make a lot of sense considering some of the absolutely ludicrous pings Uber sends you, like this one, oh better hurry up and swipe so I can keep my bit*h status.

I wouldn't be so quick to call people that are OK with the status names. They don't have to accept EVERY ping, and there are way too many variables to say they're foolish for trying to keep it. Days working, time of day, market, area within market, reasons for doing the job, and individual strategy all go into what works and what doesn't for any driver.

Sorry the truth hurts, but now you are grasping for straws, its not implying, keep losing money accepting every ride for something as petty as seeing a generic direction and distance. Good luck with that.

Definition per Websters, they should also have it as Ubers definition...

"a difficult or unpleasant situation or thing."

What I've learned in this situation it to hit accept and then inch your way over. When the rider sees 22min, they'll probably cancel immediately, anyway. Nobody wants to wait 1/2hour to be picked up.

Also, once you accept, take about 1-2 minutes to even begin moving. Take your time with traffic, lights, maybe even pull into a gas station. Take so long that they cancel you. Maybe even send them a text, "Yo, there's a crash up ahead, it's probably going to be 40 minutes before I get there."

For the record, my acceptance rating is in the toilet, I've never had more than a sternly worded email.

I have a very high acceptance rate. I've only turned down two trips now based on the ability to see the destination. I won't lose my status.
So you will take a 3 mile ride knowing its a 3 mile ride in fear of not knowing what the next rides distance will be.

To maximize your earnings you should be turning down alot of bad requests. Requests that you know are likely bad rides to wait for a better request. I give alot of rides but I'm also selective on my requests. I usually have my AR around 40-60%. Heres last weeks.

Out of curiosity, how are you vetting a good request from a bad request, aside from the pickup distance?

A good request: Residential, Hotel, Airport etc. Their rating can indicate a good ride or bad ride as well. I work every area of my city differently.

A bad request: Trolley stops, Grocery store, Walmart, Apartments etc. These trips are normally short

That being said. Ive gotten good rides from Walmart and bad rides from the airport but you have to play the percentages. I like to relate to playing poker. I always try and give myself an 75-80% chance of winning when i go all in. Sometimes i get unlucky but the more you put yourself in the best probabilities then your going to come out on top most of the time.
