Hi everyone . So I have been driving for Uber 4 years . It’s been a while. Have to say , even though I felt always underpayed, but this job payed for bills , and I could save enough to go every year back home for 2-3 months . The best year was the first . I think everybody remembers that’s surge on Friday and Saturday in Lincoln Park . And the 4x surge in downtown in the rush hour a couple years ago. Surprisingly , this last 4-5 months have been pretty good. I work always 35-40 hour weeks and make total around a 1000$. Not to bad. I do Uberx and select ( which is almost dead) . I say even for new drivers , you can make pretty good money from this gig if you work smart and the right way. So a couple of moths ago , I picked up my longest ever fare , from Illinois to ohio, on a surge plus they tipped me 50$. I work only suburbs and airports, sometimes , downtown are if there is surge or events . Last couple of weeks have been good because of weddings all over , so people order select more then usual . I have to say that people in the suburbs are always more nice and tend to give better rating then city liberals. And less traffic . It’s kind of a pain in the butt to be stuck on highway at 9 pm going from O’Hare to Chicago . Can’t deal with Chicago . My rating is 4.90. I try to give my best service . But I have zero tolerance for stupidity . So people that are crazy - i ask them to leave the car . I also use a dash cam that shoots front and back . I don’t give any treats but always up for a conversation . And I always put the luggage in O’Hare myself . Most wont tip , but some do and that brings extra money . That’s is my story . I could put more in it but it will be too long to read .

A paragraph or two or five would have given your post an extra kick..

But I digress; I'll give you all a brief summary:

Yada, yada, yada, Uber was great before..

Yada, yada, yada, it's still decent if you strategize..

Congrats for being able to stick it out that long. You must get a lot of people that say "Wow, Uber says you've had 10,000 rides, is that true?"

12 hours, 660 miles for $520. Assuming it costs you .35 a mile to operate, you make $520-231 = $289 for 12 hours or $24. an hour. Not bad but not great either, these days I guess that's a fortune.
I was very surprised . Was finishing the day in airport . It was the "rainstorm " , or as we say in Russian just a normal rainfall , flights delayed . I took the ride . It was at night , so it was easy to drive . Boring. But easy

Yeah most customers ask " do you like working for Uber ?" I reply sometimes " yeah , always dreamed about it" . Some of them are so dumb that they don't get the sarcasm . The funny thing is the ride that I took to Ohio state - she said the first thing she checked my rating and type of car . I mean it's hard to sit in Prius for 6 hours straight

Заебись :D
Ну да))

If you bought a 30k car, I can assure you that he is not doing you a favor, you just ruined your life unless you return the car...that is a complete joke that you think he is a great guy. Yes it is a miracle that you got the loan because you can not afford it.
