3.0 Rating Out of 5 Rides

1054 Views 10 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  DelaJoe
Hello, I had 5 actual rides tonight 8/25 from Jersey City, Newark, Union area.
I just looked and my rating for the day was 3.0 are you fn kidding me. my rating is 4.85.
I would love to know who bashed me, but that's not gonna happen.

There also were two cancellation one was right away the other 5 bucks in Newark.
The only one I could thing of were the people who put the wrong address in they were off by a mile.
Had to go down 22 make a U-turn some side streets to get them, they went to Newark from Union.

And the last two days have been like shit.

Might have to go back to split shift driving again.

The reality is probably only 1 person has rated you. The rest WILL rate you, but they need to use the application again to do it which means your rating will come when they request their next ride.

The other reality is that 1s, 2s and 3s do happen no matter what you do. From Day 1 of driving I was NEVER rude or got into a fight with anyone. My car has ALWAYS been CLEAN. I always say hello, always say goodbye and say at least one positive thing. I am ALWAYS clean and make it a point to shower and dress in slacks and collared shirt when I drive. Many people have looked at my setup and made positive comments. Despite my attention to detail there are still times people jump out and hit 1, 2, 3. Sometimes I even think its Uber messing with me. I think they do mess with drivers so the drivers wont get too comfortable.

Finally, another reality is there are a few NJ people out there who are complete asses. They will jump out of a car hit 1 just for a laugh. Some of them might even believe that by hitting one they are rating you #1 as in you are the best. Some NJ people ARE like this and are either malicious or really that stupid. Other NJ people are so picky that unless you show up in a Benz dressed in the old fashioned livery driver outfit complete with hat you are not getting a 5.

withonly 5 rides... It would be hard to get a solid 3.0 without a decimal... my guess is either one person rated you 3.0, or two people rated you a 1 & 5...

Today was a really bad day for me, I missed 3 exits with 3 different pax, not one of my best days, but on the other hand I handed out 1* and 3* like candies, one was a couple from Hoboken to penn station newark, well the guy knew better than the gps and guided me, the only problem was that he guided me to jersey city, when we finally made it to penn station both of them slammed my door, they immediately got 1*, 2 more were door slammers and got 3*, another was a birch that when I asked to confirm her destination, she just said "whatever", when we arrived to her destination I said have a nice day, and she again said "whatever" I gave a 2*, and 1more guy that when I asked him to confirm his destination, he just said, yeah yeah just drive. He got 4* only because he didn't slammed my door.

I always rate everyone a 5 no matter what. Uber is a job and why would I want to tick off passengers by rating them low. You have to face reality that you are not always going to get 5 stars on every trip.

1) The person may never give a 5.
2) The person might just be having a bad day.
3) The person might accidentally hit the wrong star button and submit and then its too late to change.
4) You may have made a mistake in driving or a comment you said or an odor in the car.
5) ...and this is the one that hurts me the most....you drive during a price surge and the fare is very expensive...most surge passengers rate you down because they didn't realize how much uber was going to charge. This is called the pi**ed off rating.

Very good. Don t forgive pax. I give 4* just for not responding me back with HELLO!!! People who are demanding and act like a boss they get 3/2* and the idiots get 1*. Many pax DON T EVER GIVE 5 * even if everything was perfect. We don t need stupid pax they are the cheap ones anyway. 5$ rides and no tip

Why not just rate them fairly?

You know, rate the folks who leave their trash in your car lower than those who take their trash with them when they leave your car.

You are so right, it has happened to me twice, I gave the pax 5*, then on my way to get another pax a hear something has fallen to the floor on the back, when I look back there's a half emptied bottle water, and now it's too late to give them
3 stars.
Do you refuse passengers if their rating is below a certain level? I only have 10 seconds to make a decision. I have to see how far I have to drive and then look at the passenger rating? To me I look at the pickup point and the projected distance. If it is not close, I usually let the ping go. I don't consider the rating. Should I be worried about a 4.6 versus a 5.0? Often times its not the paying passenger but others that accompany them on a fare. I am in an area where I pickup a lot of barhoppers late at night. You are not going to see these people on their best behavior. 95% of the rides are a non event. I just don't want to rate people down. If I am busy, I don't even have time to look to see if there is trash in the backseat.

I am able to retain a 4.7 rating. My rating is closer to 4.8 during a non-surge and 4.5 during surge. Uber has an adjusted rating which is based on your last 200 trips and takes into account your acceptance rate and the amount of surge trips you take. So Uber knows if you take a lot of surge fares that your rating will slide. They also give you credit for taking over 90% of your requests and not being selective.

So if you want to be a perfect Uber driver then you have to be very selective on who you pickup and not work during surge periods. If you follow this credo your hourly rate is probably going to be closer to 15. If you are willing to work surge and put up with awful riders you are probably going to be around 20-25/hour.

You take too long coming out your rated this way
5 minutes gets a 4
5-8 minutes gets a 3
Anything over 8 gets you a 1
If you slam the doors that's 1-3 depending on your attitude
Leaving garbage 1 no question about it next pax would down rate me as soon they walk in
Touching my stereo without asking 1
If they smell 1
I try not pick up pax in laundry mats , supermarkets because too much crap with them that's 3.
Wrong address for pick up 1
No tip 4 if I did not mention tipping
No tip 3 if I mention tipping
No tip 1-2 if I mention tipping and it's a long ride for pick up 12-20 minutes after I call you to confirm how far I am do you still want me to drive to pick you up or try to call another driver
Any combination from the above its automatic a 1
Supermarkets you ask me to get your groceries in to the car and then out of the car no tip 1 with tip 3
I'm not a pea pod or fresh direct for home deliveries lol
If more drivers would follow simple rules like I do we as a group would make a lot more money because pax need to be trained in how to tip us since uber tells them that no need for tipping they automatic assume tip is included
I had a recent run from Hoboken to ewr and when I was getting closer to ewr I started the conversation about tipping this lady lol went into freak show how dare you ask me for additional tip if tip is already included 20% she says wow what a joke I ask her if uber told her that she says yes
I did want problems at ewr so I did not say much more just finish by saying mam tipping is not mandatory but customary and apreciated but you don't have to by the way it's not included next time you have a chance email uber and ask them if it's included 20% for tip lol
I just wanted to get out of there pa on patrol
And for the ones that say sorry mr I'm out of cash I say no problem I accept credit/debit cards You guys should try this app square it's really useful for assholes with no cash lol
Keep on ubering

I don't get many tips. Maybe 1 in 10 passengers tips. Thinking of a way to suggest a tip...perhaps a sign on the dashboard that can be seen day or night. Or maybe have a tip jar right between the 2 front seats.
