#1. I read on here that to call a pax while in route there is an icon in the top right hand corner to click on. The only icon I have is of a microphone, is that it?
#2. How do you cancel a ride? Just let it ping out?

I had 6 U-pool requests today. On one another pax requested a ride. My Pax said NO WAY. I took the 1st pax to their destination, completed the ride and then accepted the 2nd. About that time the 2nd canceled. Out of the 6 U-pool req

Yes there is an Icon in the upper area (offhand I cant remember what it is) when you click on the icon it will bring up another screen with options to either contact or cancel.

The term "let it ping out" does not make sense for cancelling. When being pinged you can let the ping time out...this would be a non-acceptance. A cancel would only occur AFTER you have already accepted.

We don't have pool either but it is my understanding you have to accept the second ride order for first to get any advantage for pool. That is what pool is. Don't they charged x rates if another didn't get in the car?

1) The icon is actually a clipboard. You can call/text the pax from that screen, as well as see their rating. Most pax don't wish to be bothered with a call unless necessary, so I wouldn't call unless, again, it's necessary.

2) You can refuse a ride by letting it ping out. If you've accepted a ride (happens often when you were reaching for a button and the request comes in and you accidentally touch it), you can also cancel it from the same clipboard menu as the one to contact the pax.

3) Then the cheap bastard shouldn't be requesting UberPOOL rides if he doesn't want extra people on board. You probably shouldn't accept them either - Uber had to agree as part of a lawsuit not to deactivate drivers for too many pings left unaccepted (but they can still put you in a 5-20 minute time-out).

Upon arrival, but before you start the trip, you ask the passenger if he ordered Uber Pool. If he replies in the affirmative, you ask him if he understands what Uber Pool is and what it does. If he answers that he does, you say "Good, then you understand that you might have to share the vehicle.".

If the passenger balks at any of the above, or does not understand, you explain it to him. If he still balks or does not want to share the vehicle, you tell him to cancel and order UberX. If he balks, you tell him to get out. If he balks again, you call the Police.

This has happened to me on Uber Pool a few times. I have had passengers threaten to one star me if I accept any more passengers. Those people leave the vehicle immediately. If you do not start the trip, the customer can not rate you.

Problems occur more frequently on Lyft Line. There, most of the passengers do not understand what happens on Lyft Line. Most of them tell me that they ordered it "because it is the cheapest". (They, actually, are cheaper, but.............). Once I explain to them what happens, they do not want to share and cancel. Still, under no circumstances do you accept a U-Pool/LL passenger or start a trip until you are sure that he understands what U-Pool and LL do.
