Up pulls up a metermaid and before i have a chance to react he gets out and starts writing my plate number..... serious.... just a second in the red..... i read online about how corrupt la parking enforcement is.....what i got was a gotcha ticket..... really. How can they sleep at night....anyone have any thoughts?
Maybe a dash cam is necessary for us now. One that have front and back camera so anything happen it's recorded.

i got one of those ticket where the meter maid just comes up behind you to get a plate and then runs off

a few weeks after i paid it i read something on here that they can't do that anymore

they have to tell you something or give you a chance to move

might be worth fighting
I also got one of these tickets in the mail when I dropped off at a concert at Staples Center. I swear I didn't stop for more then 20 seconds. I gave the PAX a heads up in advance where I'd be pulling over. They jumped out quick.
Got the ticket in the mail 2 weeks later. Never even saw anyone writing tickets.

The city makes $60m to $70m a year on parking tix. Yes, that's MILLIONS.

How else do you think they can afford to fix the potholes with black licorice, then come apart a week later. Totally worthless.

If they don't write tickets, they lose their jobs. It has to be profitable for the city.

You can never be too careful downtown. And in my opinion, there's no corruption at work there; space is at an absolute premium and city has to do everything it can to prevent people from impeding flow.

That's really interesting about that citation for Staples - one of the nightmare places to both pick up and drop off from. I diligently avoid all no-stopping areas, sometimes it causes problems with Pax but so be it. How long ago UberDude2 did you get the invisible ticket?

This was about 6 months or so ago. Arianna Grande concert.
Make no mistake though. This was my fault. I made the decision to stop there. I just didn't like getting blind sighted with the ticket in the mail.
And for those who don't like parking enforcement officers should think about this. They have a job to do. If they don't do their job then eventually they will be unemployed. Take responsibility for your own actions and decisions and don't blame someone else.

I am all for what you said but there are times we have all been scammed and it's absolute bs.

I got a ticket because enterprise did not pay their registration on my rental one time. And of course, enterprise transferred it to my name after promising it wouldn't happen. The meter maid should have realized it was a rental, they have a 6 month grace period to renew. Big headache because it was transferred late and went to collections.

I got another for forgetting to display a permit one time. The permit was registered to my license plate. The issue was not that I did not have a permit. The violation was conveniently named "failure to display permit". On an 80 dollar a month permit. Absolute scam.

I am never going to like parking enforcement officers. They are the carrion of the human working world, even if they serve some useful function that does not change their parasitic role in society. Just because we may need such parasites to keep the traffic flowing in certain areas does not mean I have to like them and respect their job.

You don't have to like them or respect them just don't blame them for doing their job. It's their job. I'm sure if you didn't do your job you wouldn't be there for very long.
It sounds like you're taking it way too personal. Just follow the law and you'll never have to have interactions with the officer or the office they work for.
I always worry about a person who paints an entire group of people with the same negative brush and you don't even know them personally or professionally for that matter. Reminds me of a well known dictator from another country a few decades back.
Then there are those who like to blame others for their mistake. I'm not sure which is worse.

I hope to never return to Hermosa Beach. My Ticket just showed up in the mail without warning more than 30 days after the alleged issue. Picking up in the taxi zone near the pear. Never crossed my mind that I could not pick-up there. Lesson learned.

A meter maid cited a dealer plated demo I was driving for the boss at a Mercedes dealership. The citation was for not having a front license plate, but CA only issues them to be used one per car. This is not the dealer advertising insert, but an actual DMV plate that can be used on any car in the dealership stock prior to sale/registration. It was a major hassle to get that one dismissed, but instead of court it was a city office filled with poorly trained paper pushers.
A new car customer came in one time with a citation for not displaying the dealer advertising paper plates, which he had removed. The meter maid told him they had to remain on the car until he got his plates in the mail, so he was asking for another set.

They stole my plate does not work. I got a ticket for that one.
You not very creative for saying they stole ur plates.
Paint plates plasti dip just front ones. Take a pic. Take plasti dip off. Put plates away period.
Rarely they pull u for no front plates.
If they do tell them someone spray painted and show them pic. Tell them u get new ones at the dmv.
Even if they give u fix it ticket no big shit. 20 dollars.
But now with bike rack on the back that covers ur plates and no front ones u will save billions and parking those picture tickets shit. And more if u think about it

May defeat the meter maids/cameras, but also becomes "probable cause" for patrol officers to initiate a traffic stop. Then if they don't issue a fix it citation, you continue to be a "rolling PC."

Saw a UPS truck with three tickets on the windshield. It is such bs. So tired of LA and how corrupt it is. They ticket the UPS trucks all day. They are all pieces of shit!!!

They can't even let a person earn an honest days wage. Carry a tazer gun, at least get something out of it. At least you'll earn the assault charge.
BAHAHAHA!

Sorry, I'm just gonna say it... Can you imagine how bad L.A. and/or Hollywood would be if there were no parking enforcement? I just see it as a tax. The real culprits here are the pax that ding us with 1 star or whine about having to walk a 1/4 block. I just tell them, It really isn't safe to drop you right here....I'd love to but I would rather you get to your destination safely. I also never fly my Uber or Lyft trade dress (except airports) - tends to make us an easy target. Law enforcement knows we ain't nobody special that can cause them trouble for a petty-ticket.

I live in Hermosa. Your ticket is a "stupid tax". I got a few of those, way back when I first moved here. You did something stupid, and you got taxed. That hasn't happened to me in a long time, but if it keeps the likes of you away, GOOD RIDDANCE.
