I've had 2-3 riders ask about the 'new 2 minute rule'. Seems they had received notices in the last day or so. Anyone have any formal info on this in particular for DFW area. As far as I know this is being 'tested' in different markets... some sort of penalty if pax is 2 mins. late, etc. ; however in Dallas the rule seems to be no rule e.g. pax can cancel before / after 5 mins; no pentalty; driver can wait or not wait and cancel as not show... but in all cases no money changes hands. (that was my last input from dallas support). Anything new? Are you getting these requests?

I like to cancel for the fun.....Drove up to small restaurant to pick up PAX. The restaraunt is empty except for staff and 3 people. Waited 2 minutes and left....went to taco bell, got some snacks for me and the wife and then cancelled for my $4.00. Then drove by the same restaurant (it was in the same shopping center), see the PAX outside...ya now he is waiting. Slow down, he sees my fUber signs, thinks I'm his ride...and then I take off..... I smile.

Last night; 2am ish; kung fu / 6th street area... multiple texts, we are coming; then a call to confirm, yes, headed your way... yada yada.
Wasted almost 10 mins... i should be listening to you guys...no more mr nice guy :)
It's different if surge is involved...

When it's surging, continue to monitor the surge multiplier in the passenger app. If it climbs beyond your current fare, and they aren't about to enter your car... cancel and take the increased rate. Most of the rides there are short anyway, so get what you can.

The timer is no big whoop. Its just the $0.10/min after the first two minute grace period. In a busy period like bar closing, it is not worth waiting as you most likely will get another request.
In the suburbs, yes it might be worth waiting esp for my airport runs in the mornings.

When the pax responds with "Were just closing our tab...", its typically my queue to cancel and move on. They gotta learn their lesson sometime.

Thanks. Agree on the DT Dallas short rides ; it was surging; and the next ping ; they say... "McKinney" i'm assuming Ave... no the city. So a surge to McKinney ; but of course nothing back. I've yet to get a ping when using destination. (of course last night it was 3:30 am)

The trip doesn't "start" per se the pax just starts getting charged by the minute and its added to the total after the trip is completed. If you cancel after say 5 mins you still get nothing. Also the trip never technically started so no rating ability for either side

This evening about 530-6:00 I got my first ping using destination. I also got a second. The first one was the total opposite direction and a fairly long drive in major traffic. The second was only somewhat out of my way. I was so disappointed because when it pinged I was so excited and thought how awesome it was going to work. Wrong :(
