Hey guys,
I am confident the light was yellow, and I was almost at the other side of the intersection when the camera flashed on me. I have the dashcam footage. I think I am fine, but I am also nervous, you never know with these cameras. I crossed the line when light was still yellow. I am feeling nervous as well.
This is what CA law says, and I don't think I broke the law. It would be very unfair if they sent me a ticket.

Under California Vehicle Code 21453(a): "A driver facing a steady circular red signal alone shall stop at a marked limit line…before entering the crosswalk on the near side of the intersection or, if none, then before entering the intersection, and shall remain stopped until an indication to proceed is shown…"

Can you guys please do me a favor and have a look at the footage, and give your thoughts. I really appreciate it. Watch from 12:16:38 AM. Thanks a ton.

I am not sure if there was a car behind me. If it was, then most probably the flashes were for that car. Maybe that car did a California roll or something
But I am not sure if there was a car or not.

Yeah dear, I immediately saved the video on my laptop. And the video here is not really of great quality, but the one on my laptop is HD and crystal clear. I will keep it with me and show up at the court if they send me something in the mail.

I did not drive 50 MPH to beat the yellow. I was within the speed limit.

I even doubt if some other red light camera flashed in a situation like that, it is just that Sloat Boulevard and 19th Avenue camera which is kind of crazy. Have you ever experienced those camera flashes near Mulberry station. They keep flashing at nothing lol.

The photos are reviewed before citations are sent out, so likely nothing will be sent to you. If you do receive a ticket in the mail, you have dash cam footage which you can use to get it dismissed.
Best advice, if there’s a red light camera, stop on yellow. If you use Waze, it warns you of all photo enforcement, in addition, signs are posted at intersections to warn you.

Yes, my dashcam also beeped about the red light camera. And I know the location of every single camera in SF. I just felt that I was doing ok at that moment. It is one of those moments you know.
I would have braked hard, but I had a pax. They just get nervous about sudden brakes you know. So I wanted to avoid that sudden slowdown.
And thanks for the information that photos are reviewed before citations are sent out. Hopefully an officer goes through those photos, which would clearly show that I was in the intersection when the light turned red.

I got flashed at that same intersection on March 24...I have NOT received a ticket. I believe if you do NOT receive a ticket within a postmarked 15 days then you can fight the ticket and have it dismissed on that basis..it's in the Ca. Vehicle Code.

Oh you are totally fine. NO WAY is that a ticket. Don't think about it anymore! The guy who got the flash was the truck to the left of the screen NOT YOU!!! That big truck totall ran that light...he hadn't even entered the intersection when it turned red.

Yeah, that truck is moving fast, towards the almost red light, do you really think that it didn't stop for the light? I think you may be right, , That big truck with that speed, it could not stop, and ran the red light.

If you notice, there's another car from the other direction which also enters the intersection at yellow light just like me
