Dude if your going to report on something do it properly.400 series highway limit increased.
Pax will be able to get home sooner and tip bigger.
Although...
And it doesn't start until SEPTEMBER 2019Dude if your going to report on something do it properly.
Its a pilot project and its
Highway 402 from London to Sarnia
QEW from St. Catharines to Hamilton
Highway 417 from Ottawa/Gloucester to Ontario/Quebec border
Nothing to do with Toronto.
I agree with everything you said. I feel they should have gone to 120kph and started ticketing at 125kph and higher, zero tolerance beyond 125. Mainly you will not be pulled over on 400 series if you are below 125 currently anyway, so the pilot would test to see if people started driving 135 when limit was raised to 120. But they backed off for this reason:The flow of traffic on the 401 is usually 120kph. If they're going to implement this pilot they should do it on all highways where people routinely drive 110 and over. Highway cops with radars already have the data as they monitor speeds all day (allowing people to drive 120 without pulling them over). What other data can they collect from a limited 2-year pilot other than to see how increased speeds may or may not cause more accidents and fatalities? I think it's pretty obvious that higher speeds will cause more accidents and fatalities.
This is a half-assed attempt at a project that won't decrease our commute times, nor will it make our highways safer. I'd like to think they could come up with something better... if they actually tried..
It's shocking how many people don't know about the passing lane. If people were more aware of it it would help with the flow of traffic and keep us safer. I hope they stay to their word when they say they'll increase fines for people who drive slow in the passing lane..Gotta watch for that newcomer driving 80km/hr on the passing lane though
It's as if they don't know what they're trying to accomplish so they just do something without even thinking it through. It seems pointless..But they backed off for this reason:
110kph limit was decided because that is what other Provinces use on their highways (Alberta, Manitoba, etc.)
The Ford Gov't idiom is: 'Pointless.' He is penny wise and pound poor:It's as if they [Ontario Gov't] don't know what they're trying to accomplish so they just do something without even thinking it through. It seems pointless..
