The cut was 9.7mln bbls a day. It's a lot but for one cut but few are driving or flying. They were talking 10mln bbls and trumps said a week earlier 10 or maybe 15 mln.
right now crude is up 16 cts and gas futures about 2cts
I can understand why Russia didn't want to slow production, even though they aren't making much if any money on it, they need the cash flow. Saudi Arabia on the other hand I would think would be drowning in cash, but who really knows. Overall, it's a good thing that the Middle East or another region of the world doesn't produce a majority of the oil. Competition is a good thing.

I relish the opportunity to back tag an 80s post. That sounds about right. Oil will break a buck along the 100 thousand dead mark. And we will not be out of the woods for years.

Originally is was to run the shale producers out of business and they were trying to do it before coronavirus shut the world down. 20 years ago open had a price band target for crude of $22 to $28. If the average price went outside of the band for 30 days they increased or decreased production at the time the estimated production cost for the Saudi's was $1-2bbl now they use a much higher number as they use it to fund the country so the lump what they need into the production costs
I read that the decrease in production will still be out paced by the decrease in demand and that will keep prices low. Let's see what happens.

Crest Hill is my neck of the woods. Not my hood but my neck of the woods. I got there after providing rides to Frankfort, Tinley Park, Oak Lawn, Auburn-Gresham, The Godfrey Hotel, blah blah then out to Bolingbrook and as always, when approaching home turf I consult Gas Buddy for the best price on all possible routes toward home.
If it was nicer weather, I sure would have liked to sneak a walk along the lakefront or maybe just about anywhere in the Loop...for the city vibe.
No to the mask, yes to the wipe--quick swipes at a stop sign or pull-over which probably endangers my life more than saving others.
When riding back of my older brother's Harley, decades back, bikers give a little wave to one another. Same on hiking (biking) trails. Rideshares are too numerous to do that, but I am waving on the inside....and cursing (competition!!!!)

The speedway station on I-55 and Rt6 is also $1.49 fyi, also in our neck of the woods.

I'm glad you are fighting the good fight. Lots of underpaid and little appreciated workers are perplexed by their new "essential" designation.
Being a pompous, condescending old man, please forgive, but you are missing something. Something big.
If you have been providing rides, throughout all of this, then either you got sick long ago, recovery without notice and your body is fighting the virus off nicely. Can't touch this.

You are an asymptomatic carrier and I shutter to think.
No judge, regardless.
What I hope to bring forth in your mind is just because you cake walk through the first iteration, by no means, means you are in the clear.
Viruses mutate. Adapt and hang out a while way down south and come back.
The exact habits of doing what you already know you are supposed to do are tedious and cumbersome.
Wipe like you are superman and you are tasked to save the world. Make a mask. Wear it.
See, it really is all about you. (Finally, eh)

Nothing is more important. You wipe everything all the time primarily to teach your brain not to touch anything. At home and abroad.

Just think, in a couple years, some kind of superbug goes around and only those who had Covid-19 are immune. The others' nipples all shrivel up, their noses turn into beaks and and their feet become tentacles.
Of course Trump, Fauci and Birx will have hell to pay. Maybe one of them will have hell toupe.
