So I drove up to Dallas yesterday to test the waters (I’m about 1 hour from 635/30/80 mix). Got started later than I wanted (about 11 am). Started out near the arboretum, got a ping immediately, showed up rider cancelled. $3.75 in. Made a couple Uber eats deliveries that put me in the fair park, south west Dallas area (a little sketchy?!?). Tried to get back into the downtown area, went towards DAL (didn’t hang out in the queue though). Long story short, headed back east about 3:30 and had $62.
Questions: are there any consistent areas in Dallas? Not being super familiar with Dallas, I let the app drive me around.
DAL queue: worth the wait or no?
I’m still working on my figures to see if it’s worth it or not to drive up there 3-4 days a week or not. All I know for sure is it is 10x busier than Tyler (where I’m at).
Anyway, thanks for listening.

Well like I say it was a test run and I got started later than I wanted. Not a night driver though. Morning, afternoon, early evening sure but no nights.
I was rather pleased with the $ amount, although I did have some wasted (down) time I could have lived without.

Feel free to post the total number of miles you drove the entire day, amount of gas you used, and any other expenses. I will be happy to break it down for you. I would never ever drive 2 hours to make $62.

First problem: You did Eats, turn that $hit off in your app.

Second problem: You did anything in Fair Park area. I drop off, go offline at go back north to at least Deep Ellum before I go online.

Third problem: Started in East Dallas. Not an awful area for rides, but I'd much prefer to start dead center of Uptown or Downtown than by Whiterock Lake.

Agree with all these. Plus the need to use DF both ways as much as possible. Driving an hour one way to just catch rides is quite a bit, but if you can make more after expenses than what you'd make in Tyler, then I guess it's worth it.

thanks PlanoGruber and Tom, I agree. especially about turning off the eats. that sucked. It seems if I am going to do this I'll need to be quite a bit more familiar with the Dallas map / city layout as well (even saying that, I know the fair park area is sketchy to say the least).

Not to pile on, but you're seeing typical traffic. There's just not that much going on in the middle of the day on a Monday. $62 for 4 hrs of anting sounds about right. Your bigger money is going to be in the early AM, and late afternoon. Even bigger money is going to be event pickup and bar pickup.

Don't wait at DAL unless you have done some careful research on incoming flights. And even then, most people here will tell you, Don't wait at DAL.

If you must do midday, consider a better paying delivery service like Doordash.
